Scholarships & Awards
For many years, CFUW Nanaimo has supported women’s education, giving generously to local female students over the history of the club. The club offers scholarships, awards and bursaries to local female students each year.
Scholarship funds are raised through the generous donations of our members as well as a variety of fund-raising activities. We continue to add to our endowment, which is held at the Vancouver Island University Foundation, as well as ensuring that our Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District 68 awards are fully funded.
CFUW Nanaimo also receives donations from individuals and groups in the community. These donations support specific awards for one or more years.
CFUW Nanaimo Early Childhood Education Bursaries
A generous donation from the 100+ Women Who Care Mid-Island is currently funding two annual bursaries of $1,750 each for three years beginning in 2024. These bursaries are administered by VIU Financial Aid and Awards Office and support students pursuing careers in early childhood education.
CFUW Nanaimo Vilma Dube Memorial Award
A generous donation from the Dube family is currently funding an annual $1,000 award. This award is administered by VIU Financial Aid and Awards Office and is available to students who have entered Canada as a refugee.
